Children’s Friend administers a Teen Parent Program, in collaboration with the Salem Public Schools, at Salem High School. The program began in 1987 when both Children’s Friend and Salem Public Schools saw a need to provide services for at-risk pregnant and parenting teens. The child care center is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and has received accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The child care center provides care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers whose parents are full time students at Salem High School. We also accept applications from the faculty of the Salem Public Schools.
The child care center is an inviting, developmentally appropriate setting for young children. The center is dedicated to supporting the strengths that each child and parent brings to the program. The values and individuality of each child and parent are the basis for daily programming and family goals.
The environment is open, comfortable and stimulating. It is a place for children, parents and staff to enjoy, explore, interact and learn, in a nurturing environment.
