The Teen Parenting program began in 1987 when both Children's Friend and the Salem Public Schools saw a need to provide services for at-risk pregnant teens and new teen parents. The licensed and accredited child care center, located at the Salem High School, provides care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers whose parents are full time students at Salem High School, and who are faculty in the Salem Public Schools. The child care center is dedicated to supporting the strengths that each child and parent brings to the program, located within a nurturing environment. The program is designed to help support the needs of teen parents and to teach parenting skills as these teens continue their high school education.
